In Search of Hipster Sport Fans

Last week a co-worker sent me a picture of Phoenix Suns All Star Guard Steve Nash & LA Clippers All Star Guard Baron Davis dressed in brightly colored clothes and hipster sunglasses. Seeing the photo reminded me of a video clip I watched earlier this month on Hipster Sports Fans.
The Houston Chronicle sent one of their editors on a story to find out if there are “hipsters within sports fans“. They were asked questions such as: “Do you consider yourself a hipster?” and “Do you own a pair of converse?” A lot of them denied being a hipster only validating that they are hipsters. If they answered yes to owning a pair of chucks they got the thumbs up, validating they’re a hipster. The questions go on and on and the theory that there are: “hipster sports fans.”

NIECEE’s TAKE AWAYS:
- Avoid Stereotypes. The reason hipsters deny they are a hipster is because they don’t want to be considered a “poser” (someone who looks like they’re trying too hard) and the reason why the Houston Chronicle did the segment, is because they wanted to prove that the stereotype that hipsters aren’t into sports is false.
