Error in Presidential Oath Shows Human Side

It was a great morning watching President Obama take his oath and be sworn in as the 44th President of the United States. Even if Chief Justice Roberts didn’t admit to reciting the oath incorrectly, something about that slight hesitation showed that Obama is human just like very American.
In a room of co-workers we all laughed at the moment that Obama had hesitated as Roberts recited: “faithfully execute the office of president of the United States…” to him. At the time we didn’t know that it was an error on Robert’s part and that it was supposed to be: “The office of president of the United States faithfully…” Even if it wasn’t, something about Obama’s composure made America view him in a humanized way. We all thought in that room, “Hey he messed up, he’s just like everyone else!”
He may be our President now, but his actions really show he’s just like you and me! Human and American.
NIECEE’s TAKE AWAYS:
- Critics Always Have Something to Say. LA Times posted on their blog about a statement that Fox News’ Chris Wallace made. Did he really have to speculate something (as cliché as this is) “retarded” as: “They had a kind of garbled oath…It’s just conceivable that this will end up going to the courts” ? Come on! Roberts admitted his error and Obama stood there because he knew that wasn’t the right words in the oath. Where did that source come from…OH Yeah! Fox News!
