2009 Kicks off With Ignorant Tweets

Today I caught Rick Sanchez’s segment on CNN. He had reported on a Muslim American family being booted off a plane because they were discussing where the safest part of the plane to sit is: by the wing of the plane or the back of the plane. When Rick Sanchez wanted to know viewers’ opinions, there were definitely some ignorant tweets.
sassejenn: @ricksanchezcnn May have started as well-intentioned, but AirTran went too far when they wouldn’t rebook
Canuck01: @ricksanchezcnn If I was on that flight I would have reported them also .Pilot made the right call , He’s Flying the Plane.
sbooth1300: @ricksanchezcnn I think that if the family was any other race then they would not have been removed.
TaylorSiluwe: @ricksanchezcnn That Muslim family should’ve known better.
After that last tweet Sanchez had said “should’ve known better..” in a tone that was like “uhuh…ok sure”
@ricksanchezcnn was definitely one of the early adopters of the CNN team on Twitter. Hearing the story of this Muslim American family; and it truly was a family of two brothers from a professional background (attorney & anesthesiologist) with their wives and children was a total shock, but more importantly these tweets were even more shocking. Tweeples, we were not on that plane and have no idea how exactly any of this went down so don’t be so quick to judge.
Why @TaylorSiluwe should the “Muslim family known better?” because they come from a background that is highly discriminated against right now and they were talking about airline safety? Maybe they were talking about airline safety because they discovered SeatGuru.com and were discussing what the best seats were to sit in. Maybe we should kick you off a plane if you start talking about what the safest seat is.
@Canuck01, why would you report them? Because they have beards and scarves around their heads and are talking about flight safety that you need to report them? It might be a little intense if you’re actually on the plane, but you weren’t. Should we kick you off an American plane because you’re Canadian?? You sound like that old woman in Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay who got Harold & Kumar kicked off the plane because she thought she saw Kumar with a bomb that was actually a bong. Oh and No, you’re not right because Rick Sanchez read your comment on air. He probably read it because he thought you were ignorant!
As for @sassejenn & @sbooth1300, I applaud you. Good efforts in pointing out what really matters here.

NIECEE’s TAKE AWAYS:
2009 a Year of “Change” not Ignorance. Come on people in less than 17 days we’re going to have a President that is trying to change this world and you’re not making it any better by being ignorant.
