Screw Carmageddon! I’m heading for Vegas!

We wonder why tourists and transplants make fun of native LA people for freaking out over the half an inch rain we get and it’s automatically: Storm Watch 2011!!! Let’s face it we’re a bunch of sheltered little babies and I can say so in a very unbiased manner, I grew up in LA!

Since I started my new job this past month, my commute grew to a minimum of an hour of bumper to bumper traffic each way. According to the Caltrans website, the Sepulveda pass will be shut down the weekend of July 16-17 for “53 CONSECUTIVE HOURS.” :0 I did some rough calculations that equates to almost 1.3 months of my work commute life!

It’s amazing how many sites, Twitter handles, Facebook pages, images, and videos like the Xtranormal one are popping up freaking out over “Carmageddon.” Are we Los Angelinos really that bad? I mean sure it’s going to back up traffic everywhere, but just plan around it!

I did come across a lady who told me at Coffee Bean one morning that her friend is getting married that weekend in Burbank and is concerned her family and friends will have to deal with Carmageddon. I’m sure if she gave her guests the head-up that Carmageddon is happening, the percentage of guests that will hit it will be small.

Super simple people, just stay home or plan around it. Already booked my flight to Vegas!
