This past weekend I attended the Teens in Tech Conference in San Francisco for work.  Various panel speakers came to talk, but somehow the topic of: Does dropping out of college, payoff to be an entrepreneur in the future?

When CEO Derek Johnson of text messaging service Tatango; came up to speak because he was considered a successful entrepreneur who had dropped out of college.  The audience at Teens in Tech found it interesting that many of the speakers who had spoken earlier that day had said they were at one point deferring a semester or taking some time off.  Some had agreed with this topic that evolved and some did not.

I find it more interesting that the topic of dropping out of school had even evolved, when the main objective was to hear panelists talk about “Teens” in Tech. Not the dos and don’ts to staying in school.

• Go Next Year! Although the topics that day may have evolved in many forms, I found it to be a great event whether you’re a social media person, teen in tech, or just an avid user of Twitter (#teensintechconf = #1 on trend on Twitter Search on 01/31/2009) it’s worth the conference price!
