Hacked the Original USB Flash Drive

Last week I tweeted a picture of my Mimobot USB flash drive going for a walk on my desk because “she was so excited to be at work that day.” Not sure why I tweeted that, but thought it was a good way to start off my day at work. A few minutes later one of my Twitter followers decided to reply back to my tweet and said he wanted “this” and attached was a link. I went to the link and to my surprise it was cut off USB cable that could be used as a Flash drive.
Earlier this year a DIY project came out that allowed you to create your own flash drives by taking a USB cable and converting it into a flash drive. A designer named Windell Oskay took that concept and teamed up with Fred & Friends to produce a 2GB version already packaged nicely for you.

NIECEE’s TAKE AWAYS:
- Turning consumption into something productive. I’m a big advocate for recycling consumed products into something productive and operational. When I was a kid I used to stack the old “Squeeze-It” bottles I drank in the form of bowling pins and with a handball pretended I was bowling. This was probably the start of me recycling products for other uses. Computer products are always difficult to reuse so it’s nice to see some uses for it.
