Miss USA Pageant on Twitter NOT

Tonight the Miss USA Pageant decided to use Twitter during their broadcast. One thing they failed to mention was how they were using it.
After they had announced that they were using Twitter during the pageant, I looked up the twitter account since MCs Billy Bush and Nadine Velazquez failed to mention how you could tweet to the contestants and 2008 Miss USA Crystle Stewart. I did a Google Search and what pops up in the top search results? Miss Universe’s website not a Twitter account! So I proceeded to go the website and I come across an image that has headshots of Miss Universe, Miss USA, and Miss Teen USA in fluffy cloud-like glamour shot photo with a twitter logo slapped on it. Take a closer look at the bird. They could’ve at least chosen a twitter bird that resembles the right twitter bird icon. You might as well slap “fail whale” on it! Seriously the bird looks like it could blow chunks on Miss Teen USA any second. *Sigh*

Continuing on this downward spiral, I clicked on the image and was directed to a page that pulled the search feed from Twitter with the keywords “Miss USA” on it.
At this point I’m thinking ok cool at least they’re doing that, but they could have explained it better. Plus, how are you supposed to know who to reply to? Thus, I wondered what was going on with @MissUSA’s Twitter account. Hello!…..

Could this be the reason why they didn’t mention how you were supposed to respond via Twitter? I’m pretty sure they could have acquired this account. I even think half way through the show they stopped talking about Twitter. So disappointing! For an organization of that size, don’t plug Twitter publicly unless you’ve got your strategy down first! There’s a ton of social media people out there that can help you with it.
NIECEE’s TAKEAWAYS:
- Twitter Fail. When Billy and Nadine said that they were using Twitter I thought ok cool. I want to tweet to the contestants. Then as I was led down a fail trail it just got worse and worse until I just reached a disappointment level.

I still believe Carrie Prejean should have won the Miss USA 2009, and not Kirsten Dalton.
Carrie was looking stunning in her swimsuit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GI3N5CrIusE

That girl is just fantastic, I mean mostly all seems to think she is dumb but that’s just an act, it does take some skills to become one of the most famous people in the world.
