Save Knut from the Global Financial Crisis

Knut the adorable orphaned polar bear cub we’ve all learned to love is turning 2 years old tomorrow, and people are rallying again to save him, but this time from budget cuts.
Knut was abandoned by his mother and his brother died a few days later of an infection after they were born. People in Berlin and around the world came to see Knut. The Berlin Zoo was very profitable that year with all the tchotchkes and paraphernalia of Knut, but now that he’s grown up and isn’t so cute the zoo is thinking of letting him go out into the wild.
It’s Knut’s time to mate and instead of letting him stay at the zoo and building a crib for his mate and newborn cub, they’re letting him go since they can’t afford it. There’s always been a debate about keeping animals in zoos and then letting them out into the wild for them to survive. Reasons for letting them go would be for nurturing reasons, to be with their own kind, not for budget or financial reasons.
