Stand By Me Global Mashup

You know a song brings universal meaning when you have music artists singing or playing their versions of “Stand By Me” from around the world and able to synch them up to produce a great mashup.

A multimedia movement called Playing for Change brought an idea to collectively bring people together with music.  They created this video starts off with a street musician that I’ve seen quite often on 3rd Street in Santa Monica, Roger Ridley, singing the beginning of Stand By Me.  The producers of the video then took it to a blind street musician, Grandpa Elliot in New Orleans who added his vocals. They then took performances of other street musicians and groups around the world and mixed all of them together to create a video that Gizmodo calls, “If this video doesn’t bring a tear to your eyes and makes you smile for the rest of the day, you are a cold hearted bastard.”

NIECEE’s TAKE AWAYS:
Music is the Universal Language. It’s not English, its music! Put two people together from completely different backgrounds and if they have a passion for music, they’ll communicate.
