Vanity Fair Exhibit at LACMA

Last weekend I took a trip to LACMA. As I arrived, I saw that the Vanity Fair Photo Exhibit was on display. Unfortunately I didn’t know it was only open to LACMA members that day, but somehow I was able to score a member pass for the day and see the exhibit before it was open to the public.
If you’re ever in the LA area, this exhibit is a must see! There was so much history of Vanity Fair magazine that I didn’t know before I had seen the exhibit. As you walk through the exhibit you can see the magazine evolving through its editors and photographers.
The most interesting piece I saw from the exhibit wasn’t the photos of D.H. Lawrence or the making of George Clooney’s photo shoot, or the simple lifestyle shot of Radiohead. It was a 2 page layout from an issue during WWI that featured editors from Vanity Fair who have been sent to war.

NIECEE’s TAKE AWAYS:
- Evolution of History. One of my favorite things about going to museums is walking through an exhibit and seeing the pieces tell a story and timeline. You begin to wonder what were they like, and what were they thinking at that time. While I was at the museum I also passed by the Roman & Celtic exhibits and my favorite pieces were the jewelry they had on display. What intrigued me the most was how tiny the circumference was of the bracelets and necklaces. I stood in front of the display for minutes in amazement.
