What’s Your Presidential Candidate Style

This week The Onion posted an article about a cool McCain supporter wearing a Vintage “McCain 2000” shirt with a peeling logo, frayed neckline, and several holes in the sleeves.  Although this story may not be true, I think it’s a proof that people are showing their support for the presidential candidates through their style.

The article continued quoting a young man at the rally, “When I saw his shirt, I was like, ‘No way! That’s totally vintage!” “It’s not a pre-distressed “McCain 2000″ shirt like the ones available at Urban Outfitters.”  What a great quote! If you do go to UO’s site there’s a spot right on their homepage for a “PALIEN” shirt and an “Emo Obama” pin.

This weekend all I wanted to do was find a vintage Joy Division shirt from the 80’s and all I could find were distressed shirts made to look vintage. It’s hard to find vintage authentic goods these days. Treatments have to be done to give that vintage feel. I’m sure someone out there has to have a vintage shirt of when Palin ran for Governor in the last election, and maybe someone four years from now will be kicking themselves for not having saved an “Obama Progress” shirt by Shepard Fairey.

There’s only a week left in this election and I’m sure with each day passing people are going to be showing their support through their style just like in Spike TV’s Obama vs McCain T-shirt throwdown.

NIECEE’s TAKE AWAYS:

  • Authenticity. Seriously if someone has a “Palin for Governor” shirt from previous elections you need to throw that thing on ebay right now! Some person will buy it and will probably pay a ridiculous amount for it.  Just make sure it’s been run through at least 50 washes so it has that broken in feel.

Haha! That “Palin for Governer” shirt is a huge idea! Even though it wouldn’t be authentic, I’m seriously considering making some and selling it.
