When I was kid tagging crews were a big thing where I grew up. If you were a tagger, you had on you a permanent marker, a white out pen, and a name to go along with it that you would tag anywhere. Well, gone are the days when tagging and graffiti was considered vandalism. It’s grown into so much more, it’s an art form.
In San Diego, is a spot called “Writer’s Block” and is one of the few legal spots in the world to tag. It’s Located at 5010 Market Street about 10 minutes east of downtown San Diego. You don’t have to pay to write on the aisles of walls, and you aren’t required to pay an entry fee.

NIECEE’s TAKE AWAYS:
- What’s the story? When I was a kid, you tagged because you want people to recognize your name and they would know that you put that up there. Today’s graffiti tells the story of the artist and instead of hanging in some stuffy art gallery, it hangs in public for all to see and contemplate.
