Remember all those interesting ads you’d see online for classmates.com with all the flashback images from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s on their ads?  Well thanks to YearbookYourself.com you can now create your own versions of them with a picture of yourself.

I flipped through the various choices I could use my picture with and it wasn’t an easy task to make it look somewhat seamless since you’re adding your picture. Trying to match up the personality, face structure, body proportion, was difficult. Not to mention the site is built in flash making it difficult to toggle back and forth with the features. I will give them kudos on providing a service of creativity for users to explore ways to create a new avatar since people on social networks have been using them as their avatars.

NIECEE’s TAKE AWAYS:

  • Gone are the Days of the Scandalous Avatars.  I first spotted Yearbook Yourself because people on my social networks were changing their avatars & profile pics to pictures they created on Yearbook Yourself.  People on social networks are looking beyond what they want to be identified.  People don’t want to be identified anymore with a scandalous posed photo as their avatar.  Come on, that’s so 2004!
