Bands You Love Entering the Corporate Scene

Phantom Planet has been getting some slack lately for being on the Honda Civic Tour. Some of their fans were disappointed to see them enter that line-up because it made their fans wonder where there music was heading and what type of following they were getting. I must admit I’ve had my doubts lately about them too because they’re just not the same band I really liked ten years ago.
This week I read an article on LA Weekly.com that talked about Scion picking up some of our fav LA bands and turning them over to the corporate side. There’s always a fine line with artists doing deals with companies, because it can turn into either a really good situation or really bad with the whole “sell out” effect.

NIECEE’s TAKE AWAYS:
- Find a balance. It’s not easy for artists because every move they do can cause lots of criticism to start flying. Think of it almost as a collaborative idea if it’s not right for the brand, consumers, and fans, it’s going to flop. Stay true to your core, but be able to evolve with the times.
