12 Hours of Pink Friday for Killer Deals

Tigerdirect.com and Comp USA teamed up on Black for the second year in a row for “Pink Friday” where proceeds of sales from either site go to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation in efforts to fight Breast Cancer.
These internet retailers, who specialize in electronic products, donated certain products to be sold at 50% off their retail price. The products are shipped in pink boxes and even pink packaging peanuts. I know what you’re thinking why would sites that have a male dominated demographic donate proceeds to a female cause? An Acer laptop for $150, a Toshiba 32″ LCD TV for $249, and the mother of them all a Sony TT Laptop for $999.99 (reg. price $5,999.99) would be reasons why.
I woke up at 5:30am to get a start on my Black Friday morning and booked it back home just in time to catch the beginning of the 12 hour UStream of the fundraiser on Com.puter.Tv. The chat log on the UStream was very informative as to what the audience was thinking. People would vent their frustrations of not being able to get through the lines to purchase products on Twitter or would note that they’re muting the stream if it was an interview on Breast Cancer survivors. If I’m not mistaken isn’t the point of Pink Friday to raise money to fight Breast Cancer?
NIECEE’s TAKE AWAYS:
- What Really Matters. I’m seriously not saying this because I’m a girl. I’d be saying this if the cause wasn’t gender based. We can get caught up in these crazy deals, but as juvenile as this is going to sound: “If you don’t have something to say that’s nice, don’t say it at all” or at least don’t say something that makes you sound like you’re ignorant and don’t care in public.
