Live Webcast with Qik

During the Democratic National Convention, I caught “QueenofSpain” and “KevinRose” on Twitter streaming live video on their phones from the convention. I first clicked on KevinRose’s stream and saw that he was obviously way up in the near nose bleed section of Invesco Field, but when I clicked QueenofSpain’s stream she was less than 15-20 rows back from the stage. I’m a fan of KevinRose but had to tune into QueenofSpain’s stream since she was closer and had better audio.
How were they able to achieve live streaming video from their phones? A new site called, “Qik” that allows you to webcast. Only certain phones are compatible in order to stream live, but most have been jailbreaking their i-Phones in order to share on Qik. Some have been succesful in jailbreaking, but some haven’t.

NIECEE’s TAKE AWAYS:
- In the Now. There are a lot of video hosting sites out there, but Qik is definitely proving to be the future with mobile webcasting. Because it is: live and an immediate view.
