Continuing with street style photo sites, I stumbled upon a site that purely focuses on San Francisco street fashion.  The site tags photos just like Streetpeeper and Stitsh but focuses on four of the major hipster/fashionable districts in San Francisco.  When I dove more into the site, I noticed it didn’t have a lot of photos available so I decided to do some research and see when the site had launched. Archive.org had shown that the site launched in 09/2007 with changes or additions every month, but stopped in Feb 2008. When I went to the “About” section this is what I had found:

History
How it started

Sf Street Fashion is the result of the collaborative creative efforts of Zavan Quezada and Philip Broadway. THE SITE BEGAN AS A HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT for Zavan’s Fashion Trends & Marketing class. Both Philip and Zavan have been students at San Francisco Art Institute for nearly two years. Zavan is studying to be the next top Men’s Fashion Designer and Philip hopes to join or start a creative firm that specializes in Dynamic Web Content via Flash/Php/MySql/Javascript/ & Perl.

Everything had made sense now.  Why there wasn’t much content and why the analytics only had shown updates from September 07- February 08 (a whole semester).

I must say for a college homework assignment, it’s a great concept and would’ve liked to have seen it develop more.

NIECEE’s TAKE AWAYS:

  • Don’t lose sight of a good thing. I really do hope that Zavan and Phillip look to continuing this site.  I know their students now but if they were able to create the right strategy and the right business model, it could be quite a successful site.
