Vintage Swimsuits

With the tough economy people are looking towards recycle fashion (Crossroads, Aardvarks, Buffalo Exchange, American Rag, Swap Meets, Ebay, & my mom’s closet!!!).  What’s great about recycle/vintage fashion is that it inspires current brands to develop styles within their own collections.  Vintage trends have always been hip, but you’re going to see it hitting the swimwear as well.

If you’re old enough you’ll remember Frankie & Annette and Gidget (Sally Field “Gidget”, not 80’s sitcom “Gidget”) movies with guys sporting swim trunks shorter than today’s boardshorts, and girls that may not have shown as much skin as a bikini, but definitely accented the curves of a woman’s body.

Rising music artist Katy Perry known for her vintage fashion sense has been seen sporting the 50’s look in her photoshoots and appearances. Some love it and some hate it. I like the fact that she took the thrifty route before she hit mainstream.

NIECEE’S TAKE AWAYS
:

  • Learn from the battles of the economy. I think as our economy continues at this rate, the purse strings will get tighter and people are going to look to sales, deals, and thrift. Because Gen Y is such a creative bunch, I’m sure they’ll find some way to get their fashion sense in.
