To continue with my San Francisco theme I thought I’d feature one of the best things I love about this city, their public transportation system! What’s even better is their mobile options!

The BART system allows you to use your cell phone, iPod or palm/pocket pc to find out “real time arrivals, trip planners, fares and plain old schedules all at your fingertips everywhere you go.”  If you’re using your cell all you need is signal to access real time BART info. If you’re using an iPod or Palm/Pocket PC, the official BART Quicktime Planner allows you not to only get real time info, but view a color version of the official BART system map. Sophisticatedly designed if you’re a commuter or just taking a ride.

Figures San Francisco would be the first on mobile options for their public transportation system since it is most of their commuters’ lifestyle.  New York’s MTA system also recently opened up the feature for mobile options.
