I Run My Car on Beer

Ok, no I don’t but these guys have a really cool concept.

When I sixteen and got my drivers license, my father said he’d buy me a car but that it had to be used. I immediately told him I want an old 1970’s Mercedes Diesel. He denied me my choice of car and instead bought me something practical, a Honda Accord. Ten years later, I still want my old 1970’s Mercedes Diesel, but with today’s technology make it run on Veggie Oil.

Today’s gas prices have us looking for ways to cut back on gas and find more fuel efficient methods. A man named Floyd Butterfield created the MicroFueler a fueling station that combines sugar and yeast to ferment in an alcoholic brew that distills into ethanol. It’s even better if you use stale un-drunk beer because it’s already fermented. As long as sugar doesn’t go up in price, you’re looking at $1 a gallon to fill up your car.

NIECEE’s TAKE AWAYS:

  • Turning consumption into something productive. It sucks when you have to throw stale beer that’s been sitting out from the party you had the night before or maybe two nights ago. To be able to take something already wasted and re-purpose it to make it useful is way more productive.
