102 Minutes that Changed America

Today, I watched a piece on the History Channel entitled, 102 Minutes that Changed America: Unedited video taken by nine eyewitnesses from ten locations around the World Trade Center the morning of 9-11. If you’re strong enough to watch this intense 102 minutes of footage, I strongly suggest watching it.  I however had to turn away from time to time, and distracted myself.  Still the audio that was playing as I turned away, was like a horror movie.  You’ll never forget the screams in the footage as these witnesses watched a plane fly into Tower 2 of the WTC.

Every time I go to New York and visit, I usually end up taking the subway to downtown at some point.  The first time I visited NY after 9-11 and was on the train, I couldn’t understand why I couldn’t get off of Cortlandt St. It wasn’t until the conductor on the subway announced why that I had realized it was because of damage from 9-11. Passing through Cortlandt in order to get to the next stop Rector, was an intense moment after hearing that announcement.  It was like time had stopped in the subway tunnel and all I could do was have a moment of silence and wait to give that big sigh at the next stop.

I live 2,082 miles from NY and all I could remember thinking that day was: is my sister who lives out there, ok?  So many people can remember detail for detail what happened to them that day.  What was your story?
